Testo e traduzioni

Testo latino

Pueri Hebraeorum vestimenta
prosternebant in via
et clamabant dicentes:
Hosanna Filio David,
benedictus qui venit in nomine Domini.

Omnes gentes, plaudite manibus, *
iubilate Deo in voce exsultationis. Ant. Pueri.

Quoniam Dominus Altissimus, terribilis, *
rex magnus super omnem terram. Ant. Pueri.

Subiecit populos nobis, *
et gentes sub pedibus nostris. Ant. Pueri.

Elegit nobis hereditatem nostram, *
gloriam Iacob quem dilexit. Ant. Pueri.

Ascendit Deus in iubilo, *
et Dominus in voce tubae. Ant. Pueri.

Psallite Deo, psallite; *
psallite regi nostro, psallite. Ant. Pueri.

Quoniam rex omnis terrae Deus, *
psallite sapienter. Ant. Pueri.

Regnavit Deus super gentes, *
Deus sedet super sedem sanctam suam. Ant. Pueri.

Principes populorum congregati sunt
cum populo Dei Abraham, +
quoniam Dei sunt scuta terrae: *
vehementer elevatus est. Ant. Pueri.

Traduzione in lingua italiana[1]

I fanciulli ebrei stendevano
i loro mantelli sulla strada
e acclamavano a gran voce:
"Osanna al Figlio di Davide!
Benedetto colui che viene nel nome del Signore!".

Applaudite, popoli tutti, *
acclamate Dio con voci di gioia;

perché terribile è il Signore, l'Altissimo, *
re grande su tutta la terra.

Egli ci ha assoggettati i popoli, *
ha messo le nazioni sotto i nostri piedi.

La nostra eredità ha scelto per noi, *
vanto di Giacobbe suo prediletto.

Ascende Dio tra le acclamazioni, *
il Signore al suono di tromba.

Cantate inni a Dio, cantate inni; *
cantate inni al nostro re, cantate inni;

perché Dio è re di tutta la terra, *
cantate inni con arte.

Dio regna sui popoli, *
Dio siede sul suo trono santo.

I capi dei popoli si sono raccolti
con il popolo del Dio di Abramo,
perché di Dio sono i potenti della terra: *
egli è l'Altissimo.

English Version[2]

The Hebrew children
spread their garments in the way,
and cried out, saying:
Hosanna to the Son of David:
blessed is He that cometh in the Name of the Lord!

Clap your hands, all you nations;
shout to God with cries of joy.

For the Lord Most High is awesome,
the great King over all the earth.

He subdued nations under us,
peoples under our feet.

He chose our inheritance for us,
the pride of Jacob, whom he loved.[3]

God has ascended amid shouts of joy,
the Lord amid the sounding of trumpets.

Sing praises to God, sing praises;
sing praises to our King, sing praises.

For God is the King of all the earth;
sing to him a psalm of praise.

God reigns over the nations;
God is seated on his holy throne.

The nobles of the nations assemble
as the people of the God of Abraham,
for the kings[4] of the earth belong to God;
he is greatly exalted.
